General Options: Work Mode, Theme, Language
The application-wide settings of symbol.army: theme, language, symbology library and display.
Overview
Open the Options with the button in the footer of the Main Window. The Options are split into three sections — General, Symbol Format and Export Format — each of which can be collapsed. This page describes the General section.
Every change is applied immediately and kept in your browser for your next visit; there is no OK button. Options with a default value have a reset icon next to them, which restores the default.
Theme
Light (default) or Dark colours for the user interface.
Language
The language of the user interface and of the military symbology — symbol names, modifier names and the search. Available languages:
English (default), German, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Korean and Thai.
The language names are listed in English. symbol.army does not take over the language of your browser; choose it here once.
Work Mode
The Work Mode selects the symbology library:

| International | The symbols of MIL-STD-2525C. Default. |
| Extended | All International symbols, plus the Swiss country-specific symbols of the regulations 52.003, 52.002.04, 58.315, 52.075 (BFT) and 52.070 (BGO). |
The Work Mode also changes some defaults of the Symbol Format — for example the date-time format — and the set of modifiers offered in the Symbol Editor.
Display Image Format
How the symbol is shown in the Main Window:

| Vector Graphic (SVG) | Default. Sharp at any screen size; the symbol is shown in the Symbol Size set under Symbol Format. |
| Raster Graphic (PNG) | The symbol is shown as a pixel image in the Export Format size. It can then be copied with a right click and pasted into other applications. |
This setting only affects the display in the Main Window. The format of the downloaded file is set under Export Format.
Reset Notifications
symbol.army shows some messages with the option Don’t show this message again — for example the notice about the tactical map editor map.army. Reset notifications/messages makes all hidden messages appear again.
Version Information
The
button in the title bar of the Options shows the version of symbol.army, a link to the third-party licences and to gs-soft AG. Press Ctrl + F5 to make sure you are running the latest version — see Update.
